In a fiery interview with News Central TV on March 26, 2025, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, the Deputy Senate Chief Whip, dismissed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment, stating that the suspended Kogi Central senator is not among Nigeria’s most beautiful women to justify such claims.
Nwaebonyi accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of having a history of making accusations to manipulate situations in her favor.
He cited a past incident where she allegedly accused Reno Omokri of sexual harassment during the Goodluck Jonathan presidency, despite Omokri being abroad at the time.
“Upon the slightest provocation, she will come up with an allegation of sexual harassment,” Nwaebonyi remarked.
“Does she think she’s the most beautiful woman on earth? In my assessment, she’s not among the beautiful women in Nigeria.”
The senator’s comments come in response to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which followed a seating arrangement dispute in the Senate.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was subsequently suspended for six months for “gross misconduct,” and some constituents have initiated a recall process against her, accusing her of abuse of office and deceitful behavior.
Nwaebonyi emphasized the need to protect future victims from what he described as Akpoti-Uduaghan’s manipulative tactics.
“It is high time we came down hard on her,” he declared
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has denied wrongdoing and called the recall effort a “coordinated suppression” of her voice. She insists that her victimization is as a result of her refusal to succumb to sexual overtures of the Senate President.
This led to her Sexual Harassment Petition which the Senate has refused to investigate.
Reacting to what they describe as Nwaebonyi’s rants on TV Central, Netizens, have accused the Ebonyi State senator of ‘drinking too much Panadol for someone else’s headache.’ They wonder why he’s the one taking the sexual harassment allegations more personal than the even the accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
They equally challenged him to show pictures of his wife for comparison, if he thinks Natasha is not among Nigerian beauties.
The social media users went on to question how he became a senator in the first place, and the quality of his representation.
