After her six-month suspension from the Senate, Thursday, March 6, 2026, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made a bold statement before walking out of the Chamber.
“This injustice will not be sustained,” she said before her microphone was switched off.

Her suspension was based on a report by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, which cited Akpoti-Uduaghan for violating Senate rules, following a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over allegations of sexual harassment.
During the plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who she alleged to have sexually harassed her and was in addition blocking her motions on the floor of the Senate, did not also allow her to defend herself before the vote.
The consequences of the suspension outlined by Senator Neda Imasuen, chairman of the Ethics Committee, include locking her office, barring her from the National Assembly, and withholding her salary and those of her aides, unless she submits a formal apology.
