Labour Party Leaders Unite: Obi, Otti convene crucial NEC meeting, stakeholder engagement

Obi and Otti

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, the party’s sole state governor in Abia, have jointly called a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja on April 9, 2025.

This gathering will be accompanied by an interactive town hall engagement with key stakeholders at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

The meeting follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that terminated the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee, signaling a significant step towards addressing the party’s leadership crisis.

The stakeholders listed to attend the meeting include the vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election, serving and former senators and senatorial candidates of LP in the 2023 election, serving and former members of House of Representatives and LP candidates in 2023 election, all members of the National Caretaker Committee and NTC, all former governors candidates, who are still in the party, representatives of NLC/TUC political commission, all members of the former LP national working committee.

A press release signed by Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) states that the meeting is a follow-up to the Supreme Court ruling last week terminating the Julius Abure-led NWC.
