PHOTOS: Pope Francis’ coffin sealed in solemn ceremony at St. Peter’s Basilica


Last night at 8:00 p.m., a private and solemn rite was held in St. Peter’s Basilica to seal the coffin of Pope Francis, as announced by the Vatican Press Office.

During the ceremony presided over by Cardinal Kamerling, the Master of Liturgical Celebrations read the act, which was placed in the coffin at the end of the ceremony, it explains.

The announcement maintains that in addition to the people mentioned in the Notification of the Liturgical Celebrations Office, some members of the deceased Pope's family also participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony, which took place according to the regulations of the Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis, ended at 21:00.
