Prophet Elijah Ilukholor calls out Fr. Mbaka over jealousy towards Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s rising influence

Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka (l) and Evangelist Ebuka Obi

Prophet Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor, a Lagos-based clergyman from Christ House of Prayer and Deliverance Ministry, has publicly accused the renowned Catholic priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, of allegedly harboring jealousy over the increasing popularity of Evangelist Ebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach.

Ilukholor urged Father Mbaka to emulate the biblical prophets Elijah and Elisha by showing love and fatherly care towards Ebuka instead of attacking him. He argued that Elijah prayed for double anointing for Elisha and was not jealous of him.

The rivalry between the two religious figures has drawn significant attention, with Fr. Mbaka reportedly criticizing Ebuka Obi and his ministry, which has sparked debates among their followers.

Despite the attacks, Evangelist Ebuka Obi has maintained a stance of forgiveness and love towards Fr. Mbaka, demonstrating a commitment to peace amid the controversy. The tensions highlight a broader discourse on spiritual leadership and competition within Nigeria’s religious landscape

Ilukholor, in a press release, was reacting to a video of Mbaka at his programme in Enugu who, in apparent reference to Ebuka Obi, declared that the fact he washed his feet did not mean he should go and open a ministry.

Prophet Ilukholor said it was strange that the same Mbaka who once declared Ebuka Obi as qualified for God’s work, gave him his blessings, anointed him and admonished him to “fear no one and refuse to be intimidated”, has turned round to attack him at his programmes at Adoration Ministry in Enugu.
