Over 60 top media executives from across Nigeria convened at Academy Suites, Abeokuta, on May 5–6, 2025, for the third Nigerian Media Leaders’ Summit, focusing on the theme “Market Squared: Turning Connections into Gold in the AI Age.”

The summit, organised by The Journalism Clinic, brought together newspaper publishers, editors-in-chief, broadcast executives, and other industry leaders to explore strategies for leveraging audience connections and technology for sustainable growth.

In his keynote address, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, praised the summit’s timely focus on artificial intelligence and its transformative impact on media.

Omotoso, who was represented on the occasion, commended participants for their commitment to shaping a progressive future for journalism, noting, “The idea of harnessing these connections as strategic assets in the AI era is both visionary and urgent.”

The summit featured an “Owners’ Forum” panel, where prominent figures such as as Joseph Adeyeye (Punch Newspapers), Toun Okewale Sonaiya (WFM 91.7FM), Betty Dibiah Akeredolu-Ale (Branama TV), and Musikilu Mojeed (Premium Times) shared insights on audience engagement.

The session was moderated by former presidential aide Tolu Ogunlesi.

Founder of The Journalism Clinic, Taiwo Obe, highlighted the summit’s goal to “charge up the power to their connections,” emphasizing the need for media leaders to turn relationships with audiences into lasting value in the digital age.

The event was supported by a coalition of public and private sector sponsors, including Nigeria LNG, Lagos and Ogun State Governments, the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidelity Bank, and Polaris Bank.

A major outcome of last year’s summit was the formation of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multi-purpose Society (IMPCMS), reflecting the gathering’s ongoing commitment to industry innovation and collaboration
