Former Minister of Transport, Senator Abdullahi Idris Umar, has raised the momentum of the coalition of opposition against the All Progressive Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 general elections in Gombe State.
In what was expected to be an expanded caucus meeting for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, the gathering turned to a massive assembly of opposition like minds against the ruling APC Government in Gombe State as well as the Tinubu led Federal Government.
Those in attendance at the meeting included top notch politicians, who had held various political positions at the Federal, State and Local Government levels as well as contested elections at various levels.
Our Correspondent reports that the venue of the meeting, Shugliz Event Centre, Bauchi Road, Gombe, could not contain the attendees of the meeting as security personnel had a herculean task in controlling the overcrowded venue.
In attendance were, a coalition of like mind politicians who were at one time or the other, members of the APC, PDP, NNPP, LP, APGA among others, who expressed dissatisfaction with the way the APC has been handling the affairs of the State and country as a whole.
Notable persons who either showed up or sent representatives to the meeting included Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, immediate past Minister of Communication and Digital Economy; Alhaji Adamu Fura, former PDP Governorship aspirant; Dr. Babayo Ardo, a former PDP Governorship aspirant; Dr. John L Yoriyo, a former Deputy Governor of the State among many national and grassroots politicians.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Abdullahi Idris Umar, who was introduced at the meeting as the State's ADC leader expressed happiness over the turnout and assured that more like-minded Nigerians are on the way to join them in the desire to take the country out of the woods.
He said, the rush into the APC is never for the purpose to capture power but a sign that Nigerians are tired, angry and hungry for a turnaround in their fortunes and the upcoming generations.
He also explained that machineries have already been put in place for more members to join the fold assuring that the ADC is open to all Nigerians of goodwill interested in making the country a better place.
