NEMA, NISS forge partnership to boost institutional capacity, staff development

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, warmly welcomed Mr. J.O. Odama, Commandant of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), during a courtesy visit to NEMA’s headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Odama explained that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between NEMA and NISS, with a focus on creating opportunities for NEMA personnel to engage in strategic capacity-building programs and executive management courses offered by NISS. 

He also highlighted the Institute’s recent efforts to broaden its academic and professional training offerings in alignment with national development priorities.

In response, Mrs. Umar expressed gratitude to Mr. Odama and his team for their visit. 

According to a press release signed by Manzo Ezekiel, Head of NEMA’s Press Unit, she commended the Commandant and NISS for their ongoing achievements and reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to partnering on initiatives that promote institutional growth and enhance cooperation between agencies.

This promising partnership is set to advance the professional skills of emergency management personnel, ultimately strengthening Nigeria’s readiness and response capabilities.
