President Buhari to be laid to rest today in Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari will be buried today, Monday, July 14, 2025, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. The funeral is scheduled for 4:00 pm and will follow Islamic rites.

The late President’s body is being flown from London, where he passed away on Sunday, July 13th, after a brief illness.

Buhari had traveled to London to visit his longtime friend, Alhaji Mamman Daura, but soon after arriving, he fell ill and was admitted to the London Hospital. He was diagnosed with leukemia and, despite initial reports of improvement, his condition worsened, leading to his death surrounded by close family members.

Accompanying the late President’s remains back to Nigeria are his widow and former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, the Vice President, several state governors, the Chief of Staff, senior government officials, and family members.

The outpouring of grief has been immense, with all flights to Katsina and neighboring states fully booked by mourners and well-wishers eager to pay their last respects to the former soldier, statesman, and leader.

President Buhari is survived by his wife, a son, and nine daughters.
