President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Babangida, the eldest son of former military ruler Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, as the new chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
This announcement was made by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, over the weekend
According to Onanuga, Babangida’s appointment is among eight key leadership positions approved by the president over the weekend.
The other appointees have been named as chairmen or directors-general for various federal agencies, further said to be Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to reshape public sector leadership.
Giving more information about Babangida, Onanuga said, he is an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He also bagged a Master’s degree in public relations and business communication from the same institution.
The younger Babangida proceeded to Harvard Business School, where he did an executive program on corporate governance in 2002.
The other appointments made included those of Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano State), who was made the Chairman of National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC); Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna State), who was made the Chairman of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA); and The Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano State) named as the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) chairman.”
Others include Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State,) Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA); Sanusi Musa (SAN, Kano State), Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution(IPCR); Sanusi Garba Rikiji, Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN); Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria, executive director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) and Tomi Somefun, managing director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
