Jamaica’s Oblique Seville emerged as the new 100m World Champion after an electrifying final at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
Despite a shaky start in the heats, nearly losing balance, Seville powered through to secure third place early on and surged ahead to claim the gold without looking back.
Following closely was his fellow Jamaican, Kishane Thompson, who finished second.
Known for his consistent performances like Asafa Powell, Thompson again showed brilliance but narrowly missed out on a victory he might have expected, echoing his close call at last year’s Olympics.
