Innovation Minister Geoffrey Nnaji steps down amid certificate forgery scandal

Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, has officially resigned in the wake of allegations accusing him of forging certificates.

The resignation was confirmed on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, who also announced that the President has accepted Nnaji’s decision to step down.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him,” Onanuga said in the statement.

The statement further disclosed: “President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023.

“He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.

“Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.

“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.”
