[PHOTOS] Sanwo-Olu pledges strong support for Lagos’ sustainable blue economy at African Summit


Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to unlock the potential of the State’s waterways by promoting a sustainable blue economy focused on innovation, economic growth, and lasting prosperity.


Speaking at the African Blue Economy Summit: Lagos 2025, held at Azuri Towers in Eko Atlantic City, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized Lagos’ commitment to leveraging the ongoing E1 Lagos GP Championship. He described this event as an opportunity to build a robust climate change ecosystem that fosters leadership in the economy, entertainment, innovation, and technology sectors, while creating an energizing atmosphere for all participants.


The summit, themed “Harnessing Africa’s Blue Natural Capital for Sustainable Growth,” brought together stakeholders to explore the vast opportunities within Africa’s blue economy, reinforcing Lagos as a key hub for sustainable development and climate action.


Sanwo-Olu, who emphasised Lagos’ resolve to integrate sustainability, climate adaptation and economic development into its long-term vision, said Lagos is uniquely positioned to lead Africa in sustainable marine development, citing ongoing investments in water transport, maritime infrastructure and climate adaptation.
