Renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader Rev. Uma Ukpai has passed away at the age of 80 in Lagos, leaving the global Christian community in deep mourning.
With a ministry spanning more than fifty years, Rev. Ukpai’s influence extended across continents, touching and transforming countless lives.
Widely respected in Pentecostal circles, he was more than a preacher to millions—he was a mentor and father figure in faith.
His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from church leaders, public personalities, and believers who remember his profound teachings and powerful healing ministry.
Born in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, on January 17, 1945, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected evangelists in Nigeria.
Through the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, founded in the 1970s, he spearheaded numerous crusades and revival meetings that drew massive crowds across Africa, Europe, and North America.
His messages of salvation, healing, and national unity resonated with people of all backgrounds, cutting across denominational lines.
In several cities, from Lagos to London, his programs were known to attract both the poor and powerful, with testimonies of miraculous healings and life-changing encounters.
