An Abuja magistrate court has granted bail to Omoyele Sowore, rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, along with 12 others involved in the #FreeNnamdiKanu protests.
Sowore was arrested by police on Thursday, October 23, 2025, soon after leaving the Federal High Court in Abuja, following his leadership in the protest.
Among those also granted bail is Aloy Ejimakor, a former counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, who, along with 11 others, had been remanded for allegedly inciting public disturbance during the protest on Tuesday.
The 13 defendants, arrested at various locations across Abuja on Monday, include Emmanuel Kanu, Joshua Emmanuel, Wilson Anyalewechi, Okere Kingdom Nnamdi, Clinton Chimeneze, Gabriel Joshua, Isiaka Husseini, Onyekachi Ferdinand, Amadi Prince, Edison Ojisom, Godwill Obioma, and Chima Onuchukwu.
Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’I’d set bail at N500,000 each and imposed conditions requiring the defendants to present verified national identification numbers (NIN), passports, and three-year tax clearance certificates.
