At the 21st All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC 2025) held at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, called for united efforts to confront bad governance and address the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
Amaechi highlighted the crucial role of free education, healthcare, and economic inclusion, linking poverty directly to the rise in insecurity.
He emphasized the need for government focus on job creation and social investments rather than luxury expenditures.
“The survival of Nigeria depends on the survival of Nigerians wherever they are,” Amaechi stated, urging that bad governance must be removed through lawful means.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor of Rivers State, Amaechi underscored his commitment to social welfare: “Whether I purchased an aircraft or not is irrelevant; what matters is I provided free education and healthcare. These are the foundations for a strong, secure nation.”
He also challenged the media to sustain its critical role in shaping public discourse and ensuring accountability among Nigeria’s leaders.
