The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled November 20, 2025 to deliver its judgment on the seven-count terrorism charges against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Presiding Justice James Omotosho announced the ruling date, today November 7, after Kanu declined to open his defense within the six-day window granted by the court. Instead of presenting his defense, Kanu submitted a motion challenging the validity of the charges and questioned the court’s jurisdiction.
Earlier on today, the court paused the proceedings for an hour after Kanu, who is now representing himself following his disengagement from legal counsel, expressed his intention to file a defense.
In his motion, Kanu claimed his prosecution relied on an outdated law; he stated that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which he is charged, had been repealed, rendering the charge invalid.
