Senate approves new NCC Board with Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe confirmed as Chairman

The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Board, following a successful screening by its Committee on Communications. 

The confirmation took place during the Senate’s plenary session on Tuesday.

Alongside Olorunnimbe, the Senate ratified the appointments of Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East) as Commissioners of the NCC. 

Additional board members confirmed include Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Christopher Sandy Okorie, both representing the South-South zone.

These newly confirmed members join the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida (North West), Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, Engineer Abraham Oshadami (North Central), and Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central), who were previously confirmed to serve on the board.

The new leadership team, according to a press statement signed by Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head, Public Affairs, is now positioned to advance the regulatory mandate of the NCC, driving innovation and governance in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
