Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is in deep mourning after the sudden passing of her brother on Monday, December 29, 2025.
The Nigerian international poured out her grief in a touching Instagram post, sharing videos of her late brother proudly holding her CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award from the ceremony in Morocco.
“Forever in my heart, big brother. Your laughter echoes in my soul. The bond we shared can’t be broken by time or distance. Your spirit guides us. Losing you is a pain like no other, but I’ll honour your life by living mine with courage. Every star holds your light; every memory, a treasure. My rock, my friend, my guide. Rest easy, my brother,” Nnadozie wrote.
Teammates, family members and fans have since flooded social media with messages of condolence as the goalkeeper continues to honour her brother’s memory.
Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie wrote, “May God be with you and your whole family.”
“With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest sympathies to Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, following the loss of her brother. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chiamaka and her family. May they find strength, comfort and peace in this moment of profound grief,” read a message from The Super Falcons Show.
John Zacheus also wrote, “May his soul rest in peace.”
The tragic passing of Nnadozie’s brother left a bitter shadow over what had been a stellar 2025 for the world-class shot-stopper - a year defined by bold career leaps and accolades that cemented her as one of the planet’s top goalkeepers.
After a standout stint with Paris FC in France’s top flight, she made a high-profile transfer to England’s Women’s Super League, quickly establishing herself as a cornerstone for Brighton & Hove Albion Women with her commanding presence between the posts and string of crucial saves.
That same remarkable year, Nnadozie secured her third consecutive CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, recognizing her dominance across the African continent, while also earning prestigious nominations for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper and the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper honors, putting her in elite company on the global stage.
