The Ojora family of Lagos announces the death of their revered patriarch, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, the Olori Omo Oba of Lagos. The business mogul passed away early Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at age 93.
He will be laid to rest in Lagos following Islamic rites. The family urges the public to pray for his soul.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Toyin Ojora-Saraki, they noted Ojora departed “in full submission to the will of Almighty Allah (SWT).”
“We say Alhamdulilahi for a life well lived, and we comply with Allah’s words: ‘Surely, to Allah we belong, and to Him we will all return’” (Q2:156).
“He is survived by his lovely wife, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” the statement added.
Born in 1932, Otunba Adekunle Ojora launched his career as a BBC journalist in the early 1950s, according to The Advance of African Capital.
In 1962, he joined United Africa Company (UAC) as an executive, later chairing AGIP Nigeria Limited’s board from 1971 until its 2002 sale to Unipetrol.
During the 1970s, he poured investments into foreign firms operating in Nigeria, fueling the rise of the nation’s private sector.
The family concluded: “We urge all members of the public to join us in praying to Allah to grant His servant, who has lived a dignified life, reprieve in the grave and a place in Aljannah Firdaus.”
