Osimhen Roars: Nigeria fear no one at AFCON 2025

Victor Osimhen has sent a bold message to Africa ahead of the AFCON 2025 knockout stages, insisting that Nigeria fear no opponent as they chase a long-awaited continental crown.

The Super Eagles star, widely regarded as one of the most dangerous forwards in world football, underlined Nigeria’s status as one of the tournament favourites and fired a warning to heavyweights such as Senegal, Morocco, Egypt and South Africa.

“Yes, Nigeria are among the favourites. We are one of the most feared teams in this tournament, and any team is free to come at us,” Osimhen declared. “If they are good enough, they can go through, but if not, we have the quality to dominate any opponent, whether big or small. This squad can hurt any team in the competition.”

While his words carried clear confidence, the Galatasaray striker stressed that the Super Eagles are not underestimating anyone, especially with the Round of 16 looming.

“We respect every team that qualifies, but whoever meets us next will feel the fighting spirit of Nigeria,” he said. “The Round of 16 will be tougher than the group stage, but we are ready to give everything and face anyone. We respect everyone, but we are not scared of anybody.”

For Osimhen, lifting the AFCON trophy would be a defining moment, not just personally, but for a football-mad nation desperate to see the title return home.

“Winning this trophy would mean everything, not just to me, but to the entire team and to Nigeria,” he continued. “It’s been a long time since this trophy returned home, and every training session sends one clear message: we came here to win it. I want it badly, just like my teammates. That’s why we are united, to achieve this goal.”

With Osimhen leading the line and confidence surging through the camp, Nigeria head into the knockout phase ready to back their words with performances on the pitch.
