Super Eagles Soar: 4-0 rout of Mozambique rockets Nigeria to AFCON quarters!

Nigeria’s Super Eagles demolished Mozambique 4-0 on Monday, January 5, 2025, cruising into the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Morocco with ruthless flair.

Ademola Lookman lit up the pitch, dismantling the Mambas’ defense. He smashed home Nigeria’s opener in the 20th minute with a pinpoint assist from Akor Adams, then served up two more gems: one for Victor Osimhen’s strike in the 25th and another for Adams’ finish in the 75th.

This powerhouse performance pits the Eagles against the winner of tomorrow’s clash between Algeria and DR Congo.

Earlier, Egypt edged Benin Republic 3-1 in extra time to book their spot in the last eight, where they’ll tangle with either Cote d’Ivoire or Burkina Faso.

Chasing a fourth AFCON crown—after triumphs in 1980, 1994, and 2013—the Super Eagles are flying high and primed for glory.
