Senator Mpigi Barinada, who represented Rivers South East Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, has died.
The death was confirmed by Akin Alabi, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Works, in a poignant tribute on his official X account on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
“Good night my dear friend. Rest in Peace, Senator Mpigi Barinada. Sen Mpigi represented Rivers South East in the Senate,” Alabi wrote.
Barinada also chaired the Senate Committee on Works. Circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at press time.
