[PHOTOS]: ITU powerhouses boost Nigeria’s digital leap with high-level visit


In a key move to supercharge digital progress across Africa, the Nigerian Communications Commission’s management and staff welcomed Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, and Dr. Emmanuel Manasseh, ITU Regional Director for Africa, on Thursday, February 5, 2026 in Abuja.

The high-level visit focused on reviewing milestones in major regional projects, spotlighting ongoing ITU-FCDO partnerships on digital inclusion and ITU-backed efforts in Nigeria, such as the vital Broadband Mapping Project.


Talks highlighted collaborative regulation as essential, praising Nigeria’s solid G4 regulatory framework and its strong positioning for the next-level G5 standards.

Leaders also mapped out future collaborations, including new projects and expanded technical and institutional support from the ITU to propel Nigeria’s telecom ambitions forward.
