Air Peace Airlines has firmly debunked viral claims of a tax lawsuit against its top oexecutives, labeling the allegations as baseless and surprising.
In an official press statement, the airline’s management addressed a publication accusing Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema and Vice Chairman Mrs. Alice Ojochide Onyema of facing legal action from the Lagos State Government.
The statement categorically denied any involvement, emphasizing that “neither the Onyemas nor Air Peace has been served with any court summons or official notification regarding the purported suit.”
The airline expressed shock over reports suggesting proceedings had been ongoing since February without any formal service or communication.
“We maintain that all personal and corporate tax obligations have been duly met and remain up to date, in full compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements,” the statement added.
Air Peace urged the public to disregard the unverified claims, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and regulatory adherence amid ongoing scrutiny in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The statement noted, however, that if there is any discrepancy in the computation of taxes, the Onyemas and Air Peace remain open to engaging the Lagos State Government to review and reconcile shortfalls if any in the interest of transparency, clarity, and due process.
Over the years, the statement adds, the Onyemas and Air Peace have remained committed to the advancement of Nigeria's aviation sector, consistently demonstrating integrity, resilience, and patriotism. These values remain unchanged.
“We remain committed to the highest standards of professionalism and will not be distracted from serving the flying public” the statement concludes.
