The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has firmly dismissed allegations by Barrister Daniel Bwala that Peter Obi once tried to recruit him.
In a statement signed by spokesperson Ibrahim Umar, POMR said: “Normally, we would not dignify Barr Bwala’s baseless accusations with a reply, given his well-documented history of dishonesty. However, we feel it is necessary to address this for the benefit of the public, who may be misled.”
The rebuttal follows Bwala’s recent humiliation on Al Jazeera’s Head-to-Head, hosted by Mehdi Hasan, where Bwala simply exposed himself as a “transactional” and “anywhere belle-face” politician.
Facing huge backlash from that outing, Bwala appeared on Daddy Freeze’s podcast, where he indirectly, or so it appears, blamed Obi and his supporters, known as Obidients, for his flop. He alleged Obi had sought his services during the 2023 election process, which he claimed to have rejected, thus fueling their supposed dislike for him.
Critics counter that Obi nor his supporters weren’t even the topic of his Al Jazeera outing, thus exposing Bwala’s lack of substance.
POMR emphasized: “Our principal, Peter Obi, has made it clear that he excludes individuals like Bwala from his political activities and any form of transactional politics that sustains people like him.”
The statement maintains that the Peter Obi that Nigerians know and appreciate will never engage in such practices.
“He would rather allocate resources to provide desks for children in Bwala’s village than pay him to concoct falsehoods for public consumption,” the press statement states, stressing that “Obi’s approach is rooted in the pursuit of good governance and the creation of a better society for all.”
Continuing, the POMR explains that Obi does not pay people to promote a cause; instead, he invites them to join him in believing in a shared vision.
His “engagement”, the POMR maintains, focuses on persuasion, thus emphasizing the urgent need for a collective effort to rescue our nation. He welcomes those who choose to join him voluntarily, driven by the same deep-seated convictions.
POMR urges those involved in transactional politics to reconsider their actions, for the sake of the society they are harming and for the future of Nigerian children, which is currently at risk.
“For the umpteenth time, we call on Bwala and others like him to count Peter Obi out of their greed, repent, and join us in the quest for a new Nigeria that is indeed POssible,” POMR concluded.
