Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, cordoned off Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in Abuja, effectively sealing access to the residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Eyewitnesses reported that teams of EFCC personnel arrived in multiple buses around midday, swiftly positioning themselves to restrict all movement in the area.
Residents and visitors attempting to enter the street were turned away, as the anti-graft agency’s heavy security presence transformed the quiet neighbourhood into a restricted zone.
One local resident, who declined to be named for fear of reprisal, described the scene: “They came in force, blocking both ends of the street. No one is getting in or out without clearance. It’s tense, but everyone’s cooperating.”
The operation marks a significant escalation in scrutiny over Malami, who served as AGF from 2015 to 2023 amid ongoing probes into high-profile corruption cases.
