The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has rolled out a revised timetable for the 2027 General Elections, adjusting critical timelines to streamline its primaries and candidate selection process.
The updated schedule, signed by National Organising Secretary His Excellency Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, tweaks deadlines for screening of aspirants, appeals, and primary elections. It also issues clear directives on the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, including designated party bank accounts for all related payments.
Felix Morka, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, announced the changes in a concise press statement dated April 27, 2026. “This revision ensures a more efficient and transparent process as we prepare for the 2027 polls,” Morka’s statement noted, though full details of the new dates were not immediately disclosed.
The move comes amid growing anticipation for the 2027 elections, with party stakeholders hailing the adjustments as a proactive step to avoid past hitches in primaries. Opposition parties have yet to comment, but analysts see it as APC’s bid to solidify its position ahead of what promises to be a fiercely contested cycle.
