He credited the move to the U.S. having “already met and exceeded all Military objectives” in ongoing operations, coupled with progress toward a “definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.”
Trump revealed that Iran submitted a 10-point proposal, which he called a “workable basis” for negotiations. “Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran,” he wrote, adding that the two-week window will allow finalization of the deal.
The announcement comes amid escalating tensions in the region, where U.S. forces had reportedly prepared “destructive force” for strikes on Iranian targets. Trump emphasized his role in representing both the U.S. and Middle Eastern countries, calling it “an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.”
Neither the White House nor Iran’s Islamic Republic has issued immediate confirmations. Pakistan’s involvement marks a rare diplomatic intervention by the South Asian nation in U.S.-Iran affairs.
Meanwhile Markets reacted positively, with Brent crude futures dipping 2% on hopes of restored Strait access.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of global oil flows, has been a flashpoint since Iran’s threats to blockade it in response to U.S. military actions.
