The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State Branch, has firmly disowned a viral histology report falsely attributed to relationship coach Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO.
In a statement signed by Chairman Israel Adaigho and Secretary Usamah Hannah, which circulated online on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the association revealed that the document is a doctored version of an original report issued to another patient.
The genuine report, dated May 9, 2025, came from Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba, Delta State, the statement explains, adding that it was issued to Mbara Deborah following a referral from a private Asaba hospital for a confirmatory breast cancer test, not Blessing CEO.
“Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro,” the statement read.
The association, according to a Punch newspaper report, said the facility’s proprietor, O.A. Odigwe, a consultant pathologist and NMA member, contacted the branch to clarify the matter after the report went viral.
It said Xinus was contacted in May 2025 by a doctor from a private hospital in Asaba to conduct a confirmatory test on a possible breast cancer case for his patient.
“The test was done and the result issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on the 9th of May, 2025,” the statement said.
According to the NMA, the report notes, the original result, issued to Deborah through her referring hospital, was separately made available online by law firm Allen Juris Law, bearing the patient’s actual name.
“A copy of that result is the one being circulated online by the law firm, with the name Mbara Deborah as the patient,” the statement said. “The result online from the law firm is the original version issued to the patient through her hospital.”
The association said the clarification had become necessary “in view of what the altered report being paraded by Blessing Okoro is now being used for,” adding that members of the public “should therefore be guided accordingly.”
“The integrity of our association and its members is very paramount and should not therefore be taken for granted.
“We call on the authorities responsible for maintaining law and order to do the needful and save the unsuspecting members of the public from being taken undue advantage of,” it stated.
The development is the latest twist in a widening controversy surrounding Okoro, who on March 25 posted a tearful video announcing a stage four breast cancer diagnosis, shaving her head and soliciting public donations for treatment, the Punch report also stated
She raised at least N13m before scrutiny mounted over her claims.
Deborah had earlier alleged that the medical report Okoro circulated online was hers and had been edited.
The allegation deepened public scepticism, which intensified when Okoro struggled to address questions about her diagnosis during an Instagram Live session with media personality Daddy Freeze.
In an interview with social media influencer Egungun of Lagos published on Saturday, Okoro denied the stage four diagnosis, describing it as a possible miscommunication, and dismissed calls for an apology.
“For what? Who did I hurt?” she said. “I think I’m not a doctor and maybe I just passed the message that a doctor gave to me.”
She also denied reports that she had received over N100m in donations, saying the actual figure was N13m, and said her oncologist had yet to confirm the exact stage of the illness.
Calls for her arrest have since grown louder, with actress Georgina Onuoha and others urging the authorities to act.
Businessman Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, known as Oil Money, has separately demanded a refund of N20m he said he donated, through legal channels.
