Afrobeats icon Davido (David Adeleke) just reveals he’s stepping up as Head of Youth Mobilisation for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 2026 re-election campaign—his own uncle.
The superstar announced the role on X today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, buzzing with excitement about rallying the youth for the governor’s big push.
He wrote, “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL!
“We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE-ELECTION Your Excellency! 4+4.”
The Punch writes that the development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is the nephew of Adeleke, a relationship that has often translated into public political support over the years.
His latest appointment, according to The Punch report, adds to his growing involvement in Osun State politics. In 2025, the singer was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role designed to attract investment into sports development in the state.
Davido has long leveraged his massive platform to champion his uncle’s political journey, with the duo staying front-and-center during elections and key governance events.
Osun’s governorship election hits on August 8, 2026, and parties are already ramping up mobilization.
Davido’s new role? A game-changer for firing up youth turnout, tapping straight into his huge fanbase of young Nigerians and global supporters.
