Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, demolished Nazareth Queens 7-0 in Abuja on Monday, ramping up their unstoppable form ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Originally set for Sunday, the match turned into a Flamingos masterclass. They surged to a 2-0 halftime lead, then unleashed havoc in the second half for another blowout win - their second straight high - scorer after Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing of Generation Next.
Wuraola Olayiwola ignited the rout in the 8th minute, with Oluebube Umejiaku making it 2-0 in the 34th. Post-break, Harmony Chidi bagged a rapid brace (48th and 54th minutes), Oluwakemi Adegbuyi slotted a 59th-minute penalty for 5-0, Islamiyat Yusuf fired in the sixth (62nd), and Favour Enodumwenben sealed it at 67’.

According to team media officer Dorcas Erenayo, the squad also received a motivational visit following the match from former Flamingos assistant coach and Super Falcons goalkeeper Precious Dede, alongside CAF’s head of women’s football, Goshime Meskerem.
Dede presented training equipment she personally purchased for the players and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined in their pursuit of success.
Her message was described as a reminder for the young squad to maintain discipline and ambition as they continue their development ahead of the qualifiers.
Nigeria will face Guinea over two legs in May, with the first leg away between May 22 and 24, before the return fixture in Abuja on May 30, as the Flamingos aim to secure qualification for the global tournament.
