Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has thrown his full weight behind Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat’s 2027 governorship bid, hailing him as the “best man for the job.”
The powerful endorsement came during a closed-door meeting with party leaders at the governor’s Alausa office, as captured in a video obtained by TheCable on Monday.
Sanwo-Olu didn’t hold back, offering heartfelt prayers for Hamzat’s success, wishing him strength, peace, and divine backing as he gears up for the race.
“Peace of mind, peace in your family among your children, wife, spouse and everybody. That which you require, God will provide it for you: renewed strength, God Almighty will make it available for you,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also thanked party stakeholders for their unwavering support, doubling down on his rock-solid faith in Hamzat’s leadership chops.
As the meeting wrapped, the governor shared a warm embrace with his deputy, then raised Hamzat’s hand high in a triumphant gesture that sparked thunderous applause from party bigwigs.
This bombshell unfolds against buzzing rumors about the APC’s 2027 Lagos governorship ticket, where Hamzat has surged as the frontrunner.
But Jandor, a former candidate, full name Abdul-Azeez Adediran, pushed back, slamming claims of a done deal via his spokesperson Gbenga Ogunleye: “No formal decision yet from party leaders.”
That said, Jandor pledged to fall in line if the APC rallies behind a consensus pick.
