Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has taken a major step toward the 2027 presidency by submitting his nomination forms at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national secretariat in Abuja.
He announced the move in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, May 14, 2026, framing his bid as a pivotal push to revive Nigeria’s fortunes.
“The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today at the national secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress,” he wrote.
The ex-Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate emphasized that his pursuit goes beyond partisan politics, centering on urgent national revival.
“This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal, and the collective resolve to save Nigeria from despair,” he stated.
Atiku urged unity across Nigeria’s divides, inviting all citizens to rally behind the effort.
“I call on all Nigerians, regardless of region, faith, or background, to join us in this noble cause. Together, we will restore the promise of our nation and bring good times back again,” he added.
