Air Peace will operate five government-approved evacuation flights to bring home Nigerians who choose to return amid renewed xenophobic tensions in parts of South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says more than 500 Nigerians have been screened and cleared for repatriation.
The first flight is expected to leave Johannesburg with about 270 passengers, pending final aviation and regulatory clearances.
Officials emphasized that participation in the evacuation is voluntary and designed to protect Nigerians affected by recent unrest.
The operation is part of the Federal Government’s wider consular support program to safeguard citizens abroad.
As concerns grow over a resurgence of xenophobic incidents in some South African communities, authorities have promised ongoing assistance to those impacted throughout the repatriation process.
Additional information on flight schedules and passenger arrangements will be released as the operation moves forward, authorities have said.
