Semi Ajayi opened the scoring and marshalled the defence as Hull City produced a stunning 2-0 upset over Manchester United at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
In the season openers for both clubs, Hull were lively and committed while United looked flat, with both goals coming in the first half.
Ajayi, 32, and also Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, slid home the opener on 17 minutes after a corner knockdown fell to him - his third Premier League goal and first in five years. Hull doubled their advantage on 38 minutes when Nobel Mendy turned a well-delivered free kick into the net.
