Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun’s husband, Anthony Adeosun, dies at 62

Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, has died at 62, the family announced Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Adeosun passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos. The family’s notice, titled “Announcement of the passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was issued by Rev. C. A. Adeosun and shared with journalists.

Described as a distinguished businessman and devoted Christian, Adeosun was remembered for his integrity, generosity and steadfast faith. 

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother,” the statement said. “He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.”

The family said it is finding solace in faith while mourning an “irreplaceable loss,” and that funeral and Christian burial arrangements will be announced later.

Adeosun is survived by his wife, children and siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.
