Cameroon captured their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) crown with a commanding 3-0 victory over Malawi in the 2026 final in Rabat, Morocco.
The Indomitable Lionesses dominated from the outset, producing a clinical first-half performance that settled the contest before the break.
Marie Ngah Manga opened the scoring and later completed her brace, while Naomi Eto added a stunning swivelling finish to make it 2-0. Ngah Manga’s second goal put Cameroon firmly in control and left Malawi with an uphill task.
After the interval, Cameroon managed the game effectively, preserving their lead and seeing out the win to secure a long-awaited continental triumph.
The victory ends years of near misses for Cameroon, who had finished runners-up three times previously, including a 1-0 loss to Nigeria in the 2016 final.
Veteran forward Gabrielle Onguene, 37, who featured in that 2016 final, made a brief substitute appearance in stoppage time in Rabat, capping her eighth WAFCON tournament with the title.

For Malawi, the final represented a historic first appearance at WAFCON and an impressive tournament run, even though it ended in defeat.
Cameroon’s breakthrough victory not only adds them to the roll of African women’s champions but also marks a landmark moment for the nation’s women’s game.
