Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended warm birthday congratulations to his deputy and APC governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as he marks his 62nd birthday on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
In a statement on Friday, September 18, 2026, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Dr. Hamzat as a trusted, competent, and dedicated public servant.
He commended Hamzat’s long record of committed and meritorious service to both Lagos State and Nigeria, highlighting his passion for impactful governance, humanitarian causes, and the continued development of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu also described him as a dependable partner and a devoted family man.
He stated: “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, family, the Government and people of Lagos State, as well as the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I celebrate my dear brother, friend, and reliable partner, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on his 62nd birthday.
“Dr. Hamzat is a trusted, courageous and passionate brother, friend, and dependable partner, whom we have worked closely and collaborated with for over seven years to deliver good governance and the dividends of democracy to millions of Lagosians.
“His commitment to public service and the development of Lagos State and Nigeria through various positions he has held in the past and his current role as Deputy Governor continues to inspire many.
“I am proud to have undertaken this leadership and governance journey with Dr. Obafemi Hamzat from May 29, 2019 to date, and I firmly believe that he will be a worthy successor as the 16th Governor of Lagos State.
“Dr. Hamzat is an administrator of exceptional quality, a seasoned technocrat and politician, hardworking, supportive, trustworthy, and a dedicated partner. He is tested, trusted and adjudged to be competent. He possesses the capacity to lead Lagos State.
