President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent the names of six executive director nominees for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Senate for confirmation.
Three of the nominees are returning for another term, while three are fresh appointments; if approved, each will serve for five years.
The reappointed officials are Mr Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mr Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.
President Tinubu asked the Senate to give the nominations prompt consideration, saying the appointments would preserve institutional continuity and strengthen NMDPRA’s regulatory capacity.
He also approved Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the statutory requirements under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The development follows the President’s April appointment of Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the authority’s chief executive.
