The Gombe State Police Command has paraded three suspected kidnappers of Dr. Ephraim Ajuji, a staff of Cottage Hospital Dadin-Kowa, abducted in October and released few days later.
Three members of the gang are still at large, according to the police and unconfirmed reports has it that Dr. Ephraim was released after a ransom of about N2 million was given to the suspects.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Shina Tairu Olukolu said the suspects were arrested during a collaborative operation between the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and local hunters.
He said they were arrested between Deba and Balanga Local Government Areas of the State based on credible information volunteered by spirited members of the public.
He said the suspects, who also engage in armed robbery; also specialize in blocking the roads between Deba, Dadin-Kowa and Balanga axis adding that the suspects have confessed to committing the crimes.
He gave the names of the suspects as Mu’azu Adamu alias Dabo of Gobirawa village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State, Bodori Maifada of Jama’are village in Balanga LGA of Gombe State and Wada Ahmadu of Bilhadi village in Dadin-Kowa, Yamaltu-Deba LGA of Gombe state. They are all aged 27, 25 and 26 years respectively.
Items recovered from them include, one AK47 rifle with breech No.56/12803774, 19 rounds of ammunition, one AK47 magazine, two matchets, two knives, one Bajaj Motorcycle and N200, 000 cash.
Also paraded by the Police were suspected counterfeiters of one thousand naira Nigerian currency totaling sixty-five pieces. They are 39-year-old Usman Mohammed of Bogo Quarters and 24 year old Hussein Mohammed of Nayi-Nawa Quarters, all of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Other suspects are those involved in house breaking, motorcycle theft and receiving stolen property. They were paraded with different stolen items ranging from TV sets, desktop computers, DVD players, HD kettle heaters and speakers.
All the suspects will be arraigned before competent courts of law.
