No fewer than 600 women from Kaltungo/Shongom federal constituency of Gombe State were presented with N20, 000 each as a start-up capital after being trained in six different vocational skills.
The programme initiated and executed by the member representing the constituency, Hajiya Binta Bello, who is also the minority whip of the House of Representatives, has some beneficiaries of the programme from Billiri/Balanga federal constituency of the state.
All the two constituencies make up the entire four local government areas that constitute Gombe South Senatorial zone.
Making the presentation at the graduation ceremony, Honourable Binta said the women underwent training in seven different skills, which include soap, shampoo, room freshener, detergent and curry making, under the Binta Women Empowerment and Community Development Programme.
She explained that the women were chosen and trained on the vocational skills so that they will be able to support their husbands and also contribute to the home front.
She called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the trade they learnt and organize a step-down training to others at their various communities.
