Governor Fubara re-swears in 9 commissioners that resigned from his cabinet

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has re-sworn in nine commissioners who had earlier resigned from his cabinet during the political crisis in the state
between him and his political boss, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike

The governor, during the swearing-in yesterday, noted that he understands that the hearts of the new commissioners were heavy, but that he holds no hatred for anybody, adding that they were victims of the political impasse.

The commissioners sworn into the State Executive Council at Government House in Port Harcourt include Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, DSSRS, Dr. Jacobson Mbina, DSSRS, and Dr. Gift Worlu.

“Others are: Mrs Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma DSSRS; Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke FNSE DSSRS; Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom DSSRS; Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo FNIQS DSSRS; Hon. Isaac Kamalu DSSRS; and Engr. Austin Ben Chioma.”

It would be recalled that one of the grounds of agreement for peace in Rivers State as brokered by President Ahmed Tinubu was the reinstatement of all the commissioners that resigned their offices during the political imbroglio.

Speaking shortly after the swearing in, Fubara urged the now-new commissioners that it was imperative for them to engage in activities that will be positively remembered by posterity, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant, Media, Boniface Onyedi.

Fubara, after observing that the commissioners had read the charge as contained in their oath of office, enjoined them to uphold and defend the state’s constitution.

He said, “I wish you well in your coming back. Stand for justice, and stand for the interests of our dear state. That is the purpose of your appointment, and that is the truth.

“I can see how heavy your hearts are. But I assure you that I don’t have anything against any of you. You were caught in between during the crossfire. I will advise that you give your best. Like I said the first time, let this state and posterity remember you for what is good.”
