The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Ombugadu and Sule have been engaged in a legal battle over the outcome of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Nasarawa State.
The state election petition tribunal, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, had sacked Sule, declaring Ombugadu of the PDP as the winner of the governorship election.
However, Sule appealed the judgment, and the appellate court allowed the appeal, affirming Sule as the winner of the governorship election.
The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict of the Court of Appeal, stating that it does not align with the facts presented during the trial.
The party has confidence in the legal system and is optimistic that justice will prevail.
The PDP in Nasarawa State said it remains committed to upholding the democratic process and ensuring that the election results, as initially determined by the election tribunal, are a true reflection of the will of the people of Nasarawa State
