Napoli thrash Sassuolo 6-1 with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia scoring 5 goals

Napoli secured a convincing 6-1 victory over Sassuolo on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring five goals between them.

The win marked a return to the form that helped them win last season's Serie A title.

Osimhen scored a hat-trick, with his goals coming either side of half-time. He also scored a brace in the 16 minutes leading up to and after the half-time break.

Kvaratskhelia, who assisted Osimhen's third goal, scored two more goals in the 51st and 75th minutes. The win came after Amir Rrahmani scored to level the score just before the half-hour mark.

Despite the early setback, Napoli managed to come back and win the game, which helped them gain a game in hand and reignite their hopes of European football.

Napoli are still ninth in the league, but they are now four points behind Roma, who sit in sixth place and have a spot in the Europa Conference League. The team has only won three league games in 2024, but they are still in the running for a spot in the Champions League.

Sassuolo, who were playing their first game under Emiliano Bigica following Alessio Dionisi's sacking on Sunday, dropped into the relegation zone after their sixth defeat in seven matches.

The team has struggled to find consistency this season, and they will need to improve if they want to avoid relegation.
