Nwabali shines in goalkeeping heroics as Super Eagles secure redemption against Bafana Bafana in AFCON semi-final

In 2017, the Bafana Bafana of South Africa secured a 2-0 victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria, with Daniel Akpeyi guarding the Nigerian goal. Akpeyi at the time played for Chippa United in the South African League.

Fast forward to 2024, the two teams met again in the AFCON semi-final. This time, the Super Eagles emerged victorious in a thrilling penalty shootout, with Stanley Nwabali, who also plays for Chippa United in the South African League, as their standout goalkeeper. 

The match ended 1-1 after extra time, and Nwabali's heroics in the penalty shootout ensured the Super Eagles' qualification for the final.
