13-year-old boy among three suspects paraded for rape in Gombe

A thirteen year old boy, accused of raping an eight year old girl was among several others paraded by the Gombe State Police Command for different offences.

The Command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Buhari Abdullahi, an ASP, while parading the suspects, named the thirteen year old alleged rapper as Ibrahim Mohammed of Kumo town, Akko Local Government Area of the State.

The PPRO explained that on 24th of May, 2024, a formal complaint was received at the Akko Police Division that on the 22nd of May, 2024, at about 07:00 hours, the suspect, dragged an eight year old girl to a corner and had canal knowledge of her. He explained further that the case is under investigation.

Also paraded over rape cases were eighteen year old Usman Hussaini, of Hammadu-Kafi quarters, Gombe for raping a four year old girl and 45 year old Mohammed Yaya of Tumu town in Akko LGA for raping a ten year old girl.

According to the PPRO, Usman Hussaini, was reported to have carried the four year old girl to a corner near his house and put finger inside the girl's private part.

The case was reported on 26th May, 2024 when a complaint was received from one Musa Saleh of Hammadu-Kafi quarters that Usman Hussaini took his daughter to a corner where he committed the act.

The Police report says, "on receipt of the complaint, detectives from the Pantami Police Division rushed to the scene and arrested the said suspect and took both the suspect and victim to the Gombe Specialist Hospital for medical examination.

The case is still under investigation and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion, says the PPRO.

For 45 year old Mohammed Yaya, the Police PPRO explained that on 27th May, 2024, at about 15:00 hours, Mohammed lured a ten year old girl into his house and had canal knowledge of her.

Upon preliminary investigation by the Police, the suspect confessed to have carried out the act on two separate occasions giving her N100 and N50 respectively.

The case is under investigation and the suspect will soon be charged to court for prosecution, says ASP Buhari.

The other suspects paraded were those involved in criminal conspiracy and kidnapping as well as criminal conspiracy and vandalization of public facilities.

ASP Buhari relayed the Commissioner of Police appeal to continue to partner and corporate with the Command and other security agencies by furnishing them with credible information and reporting any suspicious movement of persons or items to the nearest Police formation.
