Davido vows to protect, respect, and connect Chioma as they tie the knot

The couple

Afrobeats superstar Davido has pledged to "protect, respect, and connect" with his new wife Chioma Rowland as they exchanged vows in a lavish ceremony in Lagos on June 25, 2024.
The star-studded event was attended by dignitaries, celebrities, and close friends and family.

In his address to Chioma's family, Davido expressed his commitment to cherishing and supporting his bride, saying "She'll be protected, respected, and connected."
The couple's long-standing friendship blossomed into a relationship in 2018, and after weathering some setbacks, including the tragic loss of their son Ifeanyi in 2022, they have now officially sealed their union.

Fans and well-wishers flooded social media with congratulatory messages and celebratory posts using the hashtag #Chivido2024, which trended widely ahead of and during the highly anticipated wedding.

The newlyweds were showered with gifts, including a brand new car presented by Davido to Chioma on their special day.

Among those present are the governor of Osun state Ademola Adeleke who is an uncle to Davido, the former president Olusegun Obasanjo, and the Ooni of Ife.

Other personalities present include the Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the business mogul Obi Cubana.

Davido described their wedding as “the happiest day of my life.”
“I am begging. I have only two words, lifetime insurance. Your daughter will be protected, respected, and connected. Mummy, Daddy, I love you. I am happy. This is the happiest day of my life,” he said.

After the event, Davido gifted his wife with a new white SUV car.

Davido had previously said that Chioma’s wedding ring was worth the price of “two or three Rolls Royce motor cars.”

On Monday, the singer shared a pre-wedding video ahead of their big day.
Davido proposed to Chioma in 2019, but their relationship faced challenges in 2021 amid allegations of the singer being involved in another relationship.

The couple lost Ifeanyi, their first child together, on October 30, 2022.

However, in March 2023, the singer disclosed that he and Chioma had officially married.

Davido and Chioma welcomed twins in the US in October 2023.
