Nigerian blogger and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for the third time this year.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest on Sunday, June 30, 2024, stating that VeryDarkMan was apprehended on the orders of Commissioner of Police Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.
He wrote, “Our client, #thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.
Adeyanju criticized the police's actions, saying, "Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation.”
The blogger was previously arraigned on five counts bordering on cyberstalking, but the police prosecution team requested more time to respond to his bail application.
