Melania Trump condemns assassination attempt on former President Trump as act of a 'monster'

Former First Lady Melania Trump has issued a powerful statement condemning the assassination attempt on her husband, former President Donald Trump, during his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. 

Writing on her X handle, Melania described the gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, as a "monster" who viewed her husband as an "inhuman political mechanism" rather than a person with a family. 

She recounted the harrowing moment when she witnessed the "violent bullet strike" Trump, realizing that their lives, including their son Barron's, were on the "brink of devastating change." 

Expressing gratitude towards the courageous Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers who protected her husband, Melania emphasized the importance of recognizing political leaders as individuals with families, not just figures in power. 

She called for unity and a departure from the "animosity and simplistic ideologies that incite violence," urging everyone to strive for a society built on mutual respect and love. 

Despite sustaining a minor injury, former President Trump is reported to be in stable condition and is expected to attend the upcoming Republican National Convention, where Melania is also anticipated to make a rare public appearance.
